About John MacDonald
Background & Bio
Originally from Skye, John MacDonald obtained his law degree from University College London.
John trained with a large international law firm, Eversheds Sutherland, in the City of London then practiced there as a solicitor for a number of years. He then practiced as a litigator in prestigious law firms in both Guernsey and the British Virgin Islands.
As a Solicitor-Advocate in England and Wales and in the British Virgin Islands, John is a practised court room advocate (although he does not currently practice in those jurisdictions). He has experience in both the High Court and the Commercial Court of the Virgin Islands, where he appeared regularly, and in the Court of Appeal of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.
Having recently returned to Skye with his wife to raise their young children on the family croft, John is enjoying the opportunity to assist the people of Skye and further afield with their legal needs.
John is fully qualified as a solicitor in Scotland and is regulated by the Law Society of Scotland to provide all forms of civil legal advice.
John’s Experience
John has experience advising individuals and corporate clients in diverse matters ranging from matrimonial disputes and road traffic offences to hugely complex and valuable multi-jurisdictional litigation and trust disputes.
John also has considerable experience advising companies and other corporate entities and their officers on numerous issues including directors’ duties, minority shareholder disputes and employment law.
